Program

Walnut Creek officially adopted its Public Art Program in 2000. Since the program’s inception, artwork has been installed at Olympia Plaza, Ygnacio Center, the Corners, City Hall Plaza, the new Downtown Library and more. Bedford Gallery docents offer guided walking tours of Walnut Creek's prime public art works located around downtown.

The Lindsay Wildlife Experience is the country’s first wildlife hospital, a zoological organization, and an educational museum specializing in native California wildlife. Every year our veterinarians, husbandry experts, biologists, and teachers treat more than 5,000 wild animal patients, care for the 70 animal ambassadors that call Lindsay home, and educate approximately 100,000 people.

Diablo

The Walnut Creek Model Railroad Society (WCMRS) operates the Diablo Valley Lines (DVL) model railroad, one of the most mountainous and one of the largest exclusively HO scale model railroads in the United States. This model railroad features standard gauge, narrow gauge, and interurban (overhead electric) freight and trolley lines.

Borges
Ranch

 

Old Borges Ranch is listed on the National Register of Historical Places and also serves as a ranger station. The original Borges family home, built in 1899, houses a visitor center with historical displays of the turn of the century.

The ranch area is open for viewing daily from 7 a.m. to sunset. Self-guided tour brochures are available at the Ranger Station. Learn what it was like to live and work on a family ranch in the late 19th and early 20th Century. Join the Park Ranger for a guided tour of the Old Borges Ranch once a month. Educational Programs are conducted at the ranch for school-aged children and civic groups. Large group tours are by reservations only.
